n8n
n8n is a workflow automation tool you can use in the cloud or host yourself. The Resool community node for n8n (n8n-nodes-resool) gives you a Resool Trigger node that starts workflows on ten workspace events, and a Resool node to work with contacts, messages, tickets, tasks and conversations. The Resool node can also be used as a tool by n8n's AI Agent, so an AI workflow can look up contacts or send messages in Resool.
What you can do with n8n
Resool Trigger node — starts a workflow on one of these events:
| Event | Starts when |
|---|---|
| Contact Created | A contact is created. |
| Contact Tag Added | A tag is added to a contact. |
| Conversation Created | A new conversation starts. |
| Conversation Assigned | A conversation is assigned. |
| Conversation Closed | A conversation is closed. |
| Message Received | A customer's message arrives. |
| Ticket Created | A ticket is created. |
| Ticket Updated | A ticket changes. |
| Task Created | A task is created. |
| Task Completed | A task is marked done. |
Turn on Output Only Data to output just the event's data instead of the full event (id, type, createdAt, data).
Resool node — operations by resource:
| Resource | Operations |
|---|---|
| Contact | Create, Create or Update (matched on email or phone), Get, Get Many (search by name, email or phone), Update, Add Tag (an existing tag, or by name: created if missing), Remove Tag |
| Message | Send to Contact (on the contact's latest conversation), Send to Conversation (a message or an internal note) |
| Ticket | Create, Get, Get Many, Update |
| Task | Create, Get Many, Update |
| Conversation | Get Many (filter by status), Update (status, assignee, team) |
Dropdowns load tags, members and projects from your workspace.
Before you begin
- You need n8n Cloud or a self-hosted n8n where you can install community nodes.
- Connect as a Resool member whose role allows what your workflows do. The Resool Trigger needs an Owner or Admin, because it subscribes to workspace events.
How to install the Resool node
- In n8n, go to Settings › Community nodes and click Install.
- Enter
n8n-nodes-resool, accept the notice and click Install.
On self-hosted n8n you can also run npm install n8n-nodes-resool in ~/.n8n/nodes and restart n8n.
How to connect Resool to n8n
- Add a Resool or Resool Trigger node to a workflow.
- Under Credential, create a new Resool OAuth2 API credential.
- If n8n asks for a Client ID and Client Secret (usually on self-hosted n8n), contact Resool support to get them. Leave Base URL as it is.
- Click Connect my account. A Resool page opens: Connect n8n to Resool.
- Choose the Workspace and click Allow.

How to start a workflow from a Resool event
- Add the Resool Trigger node and pick the Event, for example Message Received.
- Click Test step (or listen for a test event) and send a message to one of your channels.
- Add your next nodes and activate the workflow.
When you activate the workflow, Resool registers the trigger; when you deactivate it, the subscription is removed. While active, it appears on the Resool Webhooks page with Added through the API.

How to use the Resool node
- Add the Resool node and choose a Resource and Operation, for example Message › Send to Contact.
- Pick or map the contact and write the message.
- Run the node to test it.
To let an AI agent use Resool, add the Resool node as a tool of n8n's AI Agent node.
How to disconnect n8n
- Deactivate a workflow to remove its Resool Trigger subscription.
- Delete the Resool OAuth2 API credential in n8n to remove access completely.
FAQ and troubleshooting
The Resool Trigger doesn't receive events
What you can do:
- Make sure the workflow is active. A test listener only works while it's waiting.
- Your n8n must be reachable from the internet over
httpsso Resool can deliver events. - Reconnect the credential as an Owner or Admin.
- On the Resool Webhooks page, check that the endpoint isn't Turned off after failures.
n8n says the plan doesn't include the API
n8n connects through Resool's API, part of the Scale plan. An owner can upgrade in Settings › Billing & usage.
Where do I get the Client ID and Client Secret?
Only some n8n setups ask for them, mostly self-hosted n8n. Contact Resool support and we'll send you the n8n client credentials.
Send to Contact fails
The message goes to the contact's latest conversation, so the contact needs at least one. On WhatsApp, free-form messages can only be sent within 24 hours of the customer's last message.
