Viber Quick Start

Resool Team · · 3 min read

The Viber channel connects a Viber bot to Resool, so messages customers send to your bot arrive in the shared inbox with your WhatsApp, Telegram and email conversations. You connect it with the bot's authentication token from Viber Partners, and Resool sets the bot's webhook for you. There is no reply window, so your team can answer whenever they're ready.

What you can do with Viber

In the Inbox

  • Receive messages sent to your Viber bot as conversations, including pictures, video, files, stickers, locations and shared contacts.
  • Reply at any time with text and files. Viber has no reply window.
  • See when Viber delivers and the customer reads your replies.

On the channel

  • Open a chat with your bot in Viber to test it.
  • Refresh the connection if the bot's webhook was changed.

Before you begin

  • A Viber bot account. Bots are created on Viber Partners, and Viber's commercial terms apply to business bots.
  • The bot's authentication token, found in the bot's info. Viber bots can only be connected with this token.
  • Viber billing: Viber charges businesses for bot messages. Billing is between you and Viber.
  • In Resool, only workspace Owners and Admins can connect channels. Viber counts as one channel toward your plan's limit.

How to get your Viber bot token

  1. Go to Viber Partners and sign in with your Viber account.
  2. Create a bot account, or open the bot you already have. Complete any steps Viber asks for to activate a commercial bot.
  3. In the bot's info, copy its authentication token.

How to connect Viber to Resool

  1. Go to Settings › Channels and click Add Channel.
  2. On the Business Messaging tab, find Viber and click Connect.
  3. The Connect Viber dialog shows three steps and an Open Viber Partners link. Fill in:
    • Channel name: how the channel appears in Resool. "Viber" by default.
    • Bot token: paste the authentication token.

Paste your Viber bot's authentication token.
  1. Click Connect. Resool checks the token, sets the bot's webhook and opens the channel page.

Open your bot in Viber, send it a message and check that it appears in the Inbox.

How to configure Viber

Open Settings › Channels and click Manage on the Viber channel. The Configuration tab shows:

  • Channel name: rename the channel and save with the save bar.
  • The bot card: the bot's name, its status (Connected, or Needs attention with the reason), Open chat to open the bot in Viber, and Refresh connection to set the webhook again.
  • Webhook: the address Viber sends events to. Resool sets it automatically.

Routing, auto-assignment and satisfaction surveys are set in Channel settings. To remove the channel, click Delete channel under Danger zone and confirm. Past conversations stay.

Notes and limitations

  • Files you send are delivered as links that Viber downloads for the customer.
  • A customer has to open a chat with your bot before you can message them.
  • Viber's commercial terms and per-message charges for business bots are set by Viber, not Resool.
  • Each bot can be connected to one Resool workspace.

FAQ and troubleshooting

I see "That doesn't look like a valid token."

The value is too short to be a Viber token. Copy the full authentication token again from the bot's info on Viber Partners.

I see "The platform refused these credentials. Check them and try again."

Viber didn't accept the token.

What you can do:

  • Check that you copied the token of the right bot, with no spaces.
  • Check on Viber Partners that the bot is active.

Customer messages stopped arriving

What you can do:

  • Open the channel and click Refresh connection.
  • If the status shows Needs attention, read the reason. If the token changed, delete the channel and connect it again with the new token.

Does Resool charge for Viber messages?
