Notion

Notion is a workspace for notes, docs and databases. Connecting Notion to Resool lets your team turn a conversation into a page in a Notion database (a bug report, a feature request, a lead or a follow-up) without leaving the inbox. Each page gets the contact's details and a link back to the chat, and workflows can create database items automatically with mapped properties.

What you can do with Notion

In the Inbox

  • Create Notion page from the conversation in a database you pick, with a title and a summary.
  • See the Notion pages already created for the contact, and open any of them with View in Notion.

On the contact page

  • The Connected apps list shows how many Notion pages were created for the contact.

In Workflows

  • The Create Notion database item step creates a page in a database with a title, mapped properties and page content. Values can include variables such as {{contact.name}}.

Before you begin

  • You need a Notion account that can share pages and databases with integrations in your Notion workspace.
  • The database you want to use must exist in Notion. Resool creates pages in databases only.
  • In Resool, only workspace Owners and Admins can connect apps and change their settings.
  • Creating pages from the inbox needs a role that can manage contacts (Owner, Admin, Manager and Agent can by default).

How to connect Notion to Resool

  1. Go to Settings › Apps.
  2. Open the Productivity tab (or search for "Notion") and click Connect on the Notion card.

  1. Sign in to Notion in the window that opens. When Notion asks which pages to share, select the databases (or the pages that contain them) that Resool should write to, then allow access.
  2. You're returned to Resool and see Notion connected. The card now shows the connected account with the Manage and Disconnect buttons.

How to configure Notion

Click Manage on the Notion card to open Notion settings.

Under Defaults, pick a Database. This is where Create Notion page in the inbox and workflow steps that don't pick a database put the page. When you change it, a save bar appears with Discard and Save changes; you see Settings saved when it's stored.

The page body contains your summary, the contact's name, email and phone, and a link to the conversation in Resool. Use View in Notion to open the most recent page.

How to create Notion pages in Workflows

  1. Open a workflow and click Add a step.
  2. Under Tasks & docs, choose Create Notion database item.
  3. Set up the step:
    • Database: leave it on Default to use the database from Notion settings, or pick another.
    • Title: fills the database's title property. Variables work here.
    • Properties: click Add property to fill other properties of the database. Text, select, email, phone, URL, number, checkbox and date properties are supported, and values can use variables.
    • Page content: the body of the page.
  4. Save and publish the workflow.

How to disconnect Notion

  1. Go to Settings › Apps and click Disconnect on the Notion card.
  2. Confirm in the Disconnect Notion? dialog.

Resool stops accessing your Notion workspace. Pages that were already created stay in Notion. Workflow steps that create Notion pages stop working until you connect again.

FAQ and troubleshooting

Why doesn't my database appear in the Database picker?

Resool only sees the pages and databases you shared with it when you connected.

What you can do:

  • In Notion, open the database, open its ••• menu and add the Resool connection.
  • Or disconnect Notion in Resool, connect again and select the database on Notion's sharing screen.

Can Resool create a standalone page that isn't in a database?

No. Pages are always created in a database, so you can sort and filter them in Notion.

Which Notion properties can a workflow fill?

Text, select, email, phone, URL, number, checkbox and date properties. Values can be fixed text or variables such as {{contact.email}}.

Does Resool read or change other pages in my Notion workspace?

No. Resool only sees what you share with it and only creates new pages in those databases.

Which plans include Notion?

Apps are included on every plan. See Plans and billing.
