Audit Log

Resool Team · · 3 min read

The audit log is a record of every important change in your Resool workspace and who made it: invitations and role changes, channel and workflow edits, contacts, campaigns, billing and more. Each entry shows what happened, when, by whom, and from which IP address and device. For some changes, like an edited workflow or role, you can restore the earlier version straight from the log.

Before you begin

  • You need the See the audit log permission. It's included in the built-in Owner, Admin and Manager roles.
  • Restoring an earlier version also needs Edit workspace settings (Owners and Admins).

How to open the audit log

Go to Settings › Audit log. The newest activity is at the top. Each row shows What happened, the Area, Who made the change and When. Changes made automatically, for example by a workflow or the platform, show System as who. Click Load more at the bottom to see older entries.

How to find an entry

Use the filters above the list. You can combine them.

  • Search: type in "Search activity, names or people" to find entries by what happened, the name of what changed, or who did it.
  • Area: pick a part of the workspace, such as Members, Roles, Channels, Workflows, Contacts, Campaigns, Billing, API keys or Webhooks. All areas shows everything.
  • Person: show only one teammate's changes. Everyone shows all.
  • Date: Any time, Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Custom range with From and To dates. Dates follow the workspace time zone.

Click Clear filters to start over.

How to see the details of a change

Click an entry. The details show:

  • Who made the change and their Email.
  • The Area and When it happened.
  • The IP address and Device (browser and operating system) it was made from, when available.
  • Details: the data recorded with the change, such as the fields that changed.

How to restore an earlier version

Some changes can be undone from the audit log. These entries show a restore icon (Can be restored) in the list.

You can restore earlier versions of:

  • Workflows: name, trigger, steps and settings.
  • Button flows.
  • Teams: name and description.
  • Roles: name, description and permissions.
  • Segments: name, description and rules.
  • Workspace settings: such as the workspace name, time zone and main currency, and contact and ticket field display settings.

To restore:

  1. Click the entry to open its details. Brings back lists what will be restored.
  2. Click Restore.
  3. In the Restore the earlier version? dialog, click Restore.

This puts back what was there before the change. Anything changed since then is replaced. The entry then shows Restored. The restore itself is logged and can be undone the same way.

Notes and limitations

  • Entries can't be edited or deleted from the log.
  • Only the areas listed above can be restored. For other changes, the details show what changed so you can redo or undo it by hand.

FAQ and troubleshooting

Why can't I see Audit log in Settings?

Your role doesn't include See the audit log. Ask an Owner or Admin to give you a role that includes it. See Roles and Permissions.

I see the details but no Restore button. Why?

  • The change isn't in an area that can be restored.
  • It was already restored; the entry shows Restored.
  • Your role doesn't include Edit workspace settings.

Someone deleted a workflow step by mistake. Can I get it back?

Yes. Filter by Workflows, find the change, and restore the earlier version. Open the workflow afterwards to check it.

How do I see what a former teammate changed?

Use the Person filter, or type their name in the search box. Their past entries stay in the log.
