Meta Business accounts

Meta Business accounts in Resool connect your Meta Pixel (dataset) through the Conversions API. When a contact moves to a lifecycle stage you choose, such as a new lead or a purchase, Resool sends that event to Meta, so your Click-to-WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram ads learn which chats turn into customers and Meta can optimize delivery for them. Leads that came from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad are credited to the ad they clicked.

What you can do with Meta Business accounts

  • Report conversions: map each lifecycle stage to a Meta standard event (for example Lead or Purchase) or a custom event.
  • Report revenue: add a value and currency to an event, for example the average order value on Purchase.
  • Credit Click-to-WhatsApp ads: pick your WhatsApp number so leads from those ads are reported with the ad click.
  • Test before going live: use a test event code and Send a test event to check events in Meta's Events Manager.
  • Monitor delivery: the Recent events list shows each event with its status, and lets you try failed ones again.

Before you begin

  • You need access to Meta Events Manager for the Pixel (dataset) you want to use, so you can copy its ID and generate a Conversions API access token.
  • Set up your lifecycle stages first. Events are sent when a contact moves into a stage.
  • To credit Click-to-WhatsApp ads, connect your WhatsApp number in Resool first. See WhatsApp quick start.
  • In Resool, only workspace Owners and Admins can change these settings.

How to set up Meta Business accounts

  1. Go to Settings › Apps and open the Ads & conversions tab.
  2. On the Meta Business accounts card, click Connect. The Meta Business accounts page opens.

  1. In the Meta Pixel section, fill in:
    • Pixel (dataset) ID: in Events Manager, go to Data sources, open your Pixel and copy the ID from Settings. It's a number.
    • Conversions API access token: in Events Manager, open Settings, find Conversions API and click Generate access token. After saving, the field shows that a token is saved; leave it empty to keep it.
    • Test event code (optional): while it's set, events show in Events Manager under Test events instead of counting.
    • WhatsApp number: the WhatsApp channel whose Click-to-WhatsApp ad leads should be credited. Choose None if you don't run those ads.
  2. Turn on Report conversions.
  3. Save your changes with the save bar.

How to choose which stage reports which event

  1. In Stages and events, find each lifecycle stage. Lost stages are listed too.
  2. For each stage, choose the event it reports:
    • Don't report (the default): nothing is sent for this stage.
    • A Meta standard event: Lead, Contact, CompleteRegistration, SubmitApplication, Schedule, Subscribe, StartTrial, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout or Purchase.
    • Custom event…: type your own event name (up to 50 characters).
  3. To report revenue, type a Value. A currency field appears, prefilled with your workspace currency; change it to a three-letter code if needed.
  4. Save your changes.

Four lifecycle stages: "New lead" mapped to Lead, "Qualified" mapped to Schedule, "Customer" mapped to Purchase with a value of 250 and currency USD, and a lost stage set to Don't report.

Map lifecycle stages to Meta events, with an optional value.

From now on, whenever a contact moves into a mapped stage, Resool queues that event for your Pixel.

How to test your setup

  1. Set a Test event code from Events Manager and save.
  2. Click Send a test event. You see Test event sent. Check Events Manager → Test events. (The button is available once the Pixel ID and token are saved and there are no unsaved changes.)
  3. Move a test contact into a mapped stage and check that its event appears in Events Manager under Test events and in Recent events.
  4. When you're done, clear the Test event code and save, so events count for real.

How events are matched to people and ads

  • If the contact started the chat from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad and you've chosen a WhatsApp number, the event is sent as a business messaging event with the ad's click ID, so Meta credits that ad. In Recent events it's marked from an ad.
  • Otherwise Resool sends the contact's phone number and email, hashed, so Meta can match the person.

How to read Recent events

Recent events lists the latest events with their status:

  • Queued: waiting to be sent.
  • Sent: Meta accepted it.
  • Failed: Meta rejected it; the error is shown next to it.
  • Skipped: not sent, for example because reporting was turned off or the contact was deleted.

Click Try again on a failed or skipped event to send it again.

How to stop reporting

Turn off Report conversions and save. The card on the Apps page no longer shows Connected, and no new events are sent.

FAQ and troubleshooting

Events show as Failed.

What you can do:

  • Check that the Pixel (dataset) ID is the right one and the token was generated for that Pixel.
  • Generate a new Conversions API token, paste it and save.
  • Click Try again on the failed events.

Events show in Test events but not in my reports.

A Test event code is still set. Clear it and save.

Does this start workflows for people who click my ads?

No. This page reports conversions to Meta. To start a workflow when someone messages you from a Click-to-WhatsApp, Click-to-Messenger or Click-to-Instagram ad, use the Click-to-Chat Ads trigger. See Workflow triggers.

Which events are sent for stages I don't map?

None. Only stages with an event chosen are reported.

Can I report to more than one Pixel?

No. Each workspace reports to one Meta Pixel.
