Broadcasts Overview

Resool Team · · 3 min read

Broadcasts let you send one message to many contacts at once, for example a promotion, an event reminder or an important update. In Resool you pick a segment of contacts, choose an approved WhatsApp or Messenger template, then send right away or schedule it for later. Resool sends at a safe pace, skips people who opted out, estimates the cost before you send, and tracks how many messages were delivered, read and replied to.

Before you begin

  • Broadcasts are included in the Growth and Scale plans. See Plans and billing.
  • You need See campaigns to view broadcasts and Create and send campaigns to create and send them. With the default roles, Owners, Admins and Managers can send; Agents and Viewers can only view.
  • Connect at least one WhatsApp number or Messenger Page. See WhatsApp quick start and Messenger quick start.
  • Have at least one approved message template for that channel. See WhatsApp message templates.
  • Create a segment with the contacts you want to reach. See Segments.

Why broadcasts use templates

WhatsApp and Messenger only let businesses start a conversation, or write after the customer's 24-hour reply window has closed, with a template that Meta has approved. A broadcast reaches people who haven't written to you recently, so every broadcast sends one of the channel's approved templates. When a contact replies, the conversation lands in your Inbox like any other.

The Broadcasts page

Click Broadcasts in the left menu.

  • The side panel filters broadcasts by status: All, Draft, Scheduled, In progress, Completed and Failed, with a count for each.
  • Use Search broadcasts to find one by name.
  • Switch the View between Table and Calendar. The calendar shows when each broadcast is scheduled or was sent; move between months with the arrows.
  • Click Add broadcast to create one. See Creating a broadcast.
  • Open More (the ⋯ button) and choose WhatsApp templates to manage your templates.

How broadcasts protect your number

  • Safe pace: you choose how many messages go out per minute. Start slowly with new numbers to protect their quality rating.
  • Opt-outs: contacts who opted out of WhatsApp marketing are always skipped. See Contact data and privacy.
  • Duplicates: each phone number gets the message only once.
  • Automatic pause: a broadcast pauses by itself if Meta rates the number's quality as low, the template is no longer approved, the channel is disconnected or the segment is deleted.

What it costs

Meta charges per template message delivered, depending on the template category and the recipient's country. Before you send, the summary shows an Estimated cost based on Meta's published rates. Meta's invoice is final.

FAQ and troubleshooting

Why can't I see Broadcasts in the menu?

Your plan doesn't include broadcasts, or your role doesn't include See campaigns.

Can I send a broadcast on Instagram, SMS or email?

Broadcasts send approved templates on WhatsApp numbers and Messenger Pages. Instagram has no message templates, so it can't be used for broadcasts.

Can I write a free-text broadcast without a template?

No. Every broadcast sends one of the channel's approved templates.

Where do replies to a broadcast go?

To the Inbox, as normal conversations, assigned by your channel's routing rules.

What's next?
