Deals
Deals let your team track sales opportunities in Resool, right next to the conversations that create them. Each deal has a value, a stage in a sales pipeline, an owner, an expected close date and a linked contact and company. You move deals across stages on a board, mark them Won or Lost, and see your open pipeline, weighted forecast and win rate at a glance.
Before you begin
Your workspace starts with a pipeline called Sales with the stages New lead, Contacted, Proposal and Negotiation. You can change it or add more in Sales pipelines.
How to create a deal
From the Deals page
- Go to Deals in the left menu and click New deal. You can also click the + at the top of a stage column to add a deal straight into that stage.
- Fill in the New deal dialog:
- Deal name, for example "Website redesign for Nile Foods".
- Value, in the pipeline's currency.
- Expected close date.
- Pipeline (if you have more than one) and Stage.
- Owner: you by default, or No owner.
- Contact: search for a person, or click New person to add one.
- Company: the contact's companies are listed first. Click New company to add one, or choose No company.
- Click Create deal.

From a conversation
- Open the conversation in the Inbox and select the Deals tab in the right-hand panel.
- Click Create deal. The dialog says "Linked to the conversation with …" and uses the conversation's contact.
- Fill in the details and click Create deal.
The Create deal button is hidden while the conversation already has an open deal. The same Deals list appears on the contact's profile.
How to use the deals board
The board shows one column per stage, with the number of deals, their total value and the stage's chance to close. Each card shows the deal name, the contact or company, the value, the expected close date and the owner.
Deals (Board view)
The deals board with the summary row (Open pipeline, Weighted forecast, Won this month, Win rate), four stage columns with cards, one card with the "No movement for 14 days" hint, one with a red past-due close date, and the Won and Lost drop areas.

- Move a deal: drag its card to another stage. With the keyboard, focus a card and use Alt + arrow keys.
- Close a deal: drop the card on Won or Lost. When you mark a deal as lost, Resool asks Why was it lost? (see below).
- Spot deals that need attention: a card shows No movement for N days when it has stayed in the same stage for 14 days or more, and the close date turns red when it's Past the expected close date.
The summary row
- Open pipeline: the total value and number of open deals in this pipeline.
- Weighted forecast: each deal's value × its stage's probability, added up. A €1,000 deal in a 60% stage counts as €600.
- Won this month and Win rate: deals won since the start of the month, and won deals as a share of deals closed this month.
Filters and views
- Switch pipelines with the pipeline menu (when you have more than one).
- Owner: Everyone or Mine.
- Search deals by name.
- View: Board shows open deals. List shows a table (Deal, Stage, Value, Owner, Expected close, Status) and adds a Status filter: Open, Won, Lost or All.
How to work on a deal
Click a deal to open its page.
Deals › open a deal
The deal page with the Won and Lost buttons, the stage bar with the current stage highlighted, the Activity card with a note being written and earlier events, and the side panel with Value, Forecast, Name, Owner, Expected close and the linked contact.
File: screenshots/deals-deal-page.png
- Change stage: click a stage in the stage bar.
- Edit details: change the Value and its currency, Name, Owner and Expected close in the side panel. Under the value you see the forecast for this deal, for example "Forecast €600 (60% chance)".
- Contact: use Change contact or Remove contact. If the deal started in a conversation, Open conversation takes you back to it.
- Add note: record a call, a meeting or what was agreed. Notes appear in Activity with every change to the deal (stage moves, value changes, owner changes, won, lost, reopened).
- Won / Lost: close the deal. A closed deal shows Reopen to put it back in the pipeline.
- Delete deal: in the ⋯ menu. The deal and its activity are removed from the pipeline and reports.
Lost reasons
When you mark a deal as lost, type a reason under Why was it lost? or pick a quick reason: Price too high, Chose a competitor, Stopped responding, Not the right time or Not a good fit. The reason is optional, but it feeds the Why deals are lost chart in the Sales report.
Notes and limitations
- A deal uses its pipeline's currency unless you choose another one on the deal page. The pipeline totals and charts are shown in the pipeline's currency.
- The board shows open deals only. Use the List view with the Status filter to find won and lost deals.
- A deal stays in the pipeline it was created in.
