Slack

Slack is a messaging app for team chat. Connecting Slack to Resool posts a message in a Slack channel of your choice when something happens in your workspace, such as a new conversation, an assignment, a closed conversation, a new or won deal, or a booked meeting. You can also post any message to Slack from a workflow, so the right people hear about important customers without watching the inbox all day.

Choose one channel and turn on the events that post a message:

In Workflows

• The Send Slack message step posts a message in any channel you pick, with variables like {{contact.name}} filled in.

#Before you begin

• You need a Slack account with permission to add apps to your Slack workspace. Some workspaces require an admin to approve new apps.
• In Resool, only workspace Owners and Admins can connect apps.
• Messages are posted by the Resool.io app. To post in a private channel, you invite @Resool.io to that channel in Slack.

#How to connect Slack to Resool

1. Go to Settings › Apps.
2. Open the Communication tab and click Connect on the Slack card.

1. The Connect Slack dialog lists what Resool will be able to do after you approve: see your workspace name, see the list of channels, and post messages as the Resool app. Click Continue.
2. In the Slack window, check the workspace in the top-right corner and click Allow.
3. You're returned to Resool and see Slack connected. The card shows the connected Slack workspace and the Manage and Disconnect buttons.

#How to set up Slack notifications

1. Click Manage on the Slack card. The Slack notifications sheet opens.

1. Under Channel, click Choose (or Change). In the Notification channel dialog, pick a channel and click Save changes.

1. Under Send a message when, turn on the events you want. The hint under each event says what the message includes.
2. Click Save changes in the bar at the bottom. Discard undoes the changes you haven't saved.
3. Click Send test message to check that messages reach the channel. You see Test message sent to #channel.

#How to use Slack in Workflows

1. Open a workflow and add a step. In the Apps group, choose Send Slack message.
2. Pick a Channel.
3. Write the Message. You can insert variables such as {{contact.name}} to include details from the contact or conversation.
4. Save and publish the workflow.

If Slack isn't connected, the step shows Connect Slack with a link to Settings › Apps. If Slack rejects a message when the workflow runs, that step is skipped and the workflow continues.

#How to disconnect Slack

1. Go to Settings › Apps and click Disconnect on the Slack card.
2. Confirm in the Disconnect Slack? dialog.

Notifications and Send Slack message steps stop posting. You can connect again at any time.

#FAQ and troubleshooting

#The test message failed with "The Resool.io app isn't in that channel". What do I do?

Invite @Resool.io to the channel in Slack (type /invite @Resool.io in the channel), then send the test message again.

#Can I send different events to different channels?

Notifications go to one channel. To post specific events somewhere else, use a workflow with the Send Slack message step and pick a different channel there.

#Can I reply to customers from Slack?

No. Slack receives notifications with a link back to the conversation. Open the link to reply from Resool.

#Which scheduling apps send meeting notifications?

Meetings booked, rescheduled or canceled through a connected scheduling app such as Calendly or Cal.com post a message when A meeting is booked or canceled is on.

#Can I connect more than one Slack workspace?

Each Resool workspace connects to one Slack workspace at a time. Disconnect it to connect another.
