Domains

Domains let you show your public forms and shared screen recordings on your own website address instead of Resool's, for example forms.yourcompany.com. Customers see your brand in every link you send, which builds trust and makes links easier to recognise. You add a subdomain you own, copy the DNS records Resool gives you to your DNS provider, and Resool switches the domain on by itself, with HTTPS, as soon as the records work.

Before you begin

  • You need the Connect and configure channels permission, included in the built-in Owner and Admin roles.
  • You need access to your domain's DNS settings (at your domain registrar or DNS provider, such as Cloudflare, GoDaddy or Namecheap), or someone who has it.
  • Use a subdomain, like forms.yourcompany.com or go.yourcompany.com. A root domain like yourcompany.com can't be used.

How to add a website domain

  1. Go to Settings › Domains.
  2. Under Website domain, type your subdomain in the Domain box, for example forms.yourcompany.com.
  3. Next to Use for:, tick Forms, Recordings or both. You can use one domain for both, or a different domain for each.
  4. Click Add domain.

Add a subdomain you own and choose what it's for.

The domain is saved straight away with the status Checking automatically, and the DNS records to add appear under it.

How to add the DNS records

  1. Sign in to your DNS provider and open the DNS settings for your domain.
  2. For each record Resool shows, add a record with the same type (CNAME or TXT), Name and Value. Use the copy button next to each part to avoid typos.
  3. In most DNS panels you enter only the first part of the name, for example forms instead of forms.yourcompany.com.
  4. Save the records at your DNS provider.

Copy each record to your DNS provider; Resool checks for them automatically.

That's it. Resool checks every few minutes and switches the domain on, with HTTPS, as soon as the records work. You don't need to come back. While you wait, the page keeps itself up to date.

To check right away, click Check now. If the records aren't visible yet, you see "Not ready yet. DNS changes can take up to a few hours; we keep checking."

When the domain works, its status changes to Active. Form links and shared recording links then use your domain. Until then, links keep using Resool's address.

How to change what a domain is used for

On the domain's card, turn the Forms or Recordings switch on or off. The change applies straight away.

How to remove a domain

  1. Click the trash icon on the domain's card.
  2. Confirm with Remove in the Remove domain dialog.

Links on that domain stop working and go back to Resool's domain. You can then delete the DNS records at your DNS provider.

Notes and limitations

  • Only subdomains can be added. Resool's own domains and hosting domains can't be used.
  • Each domain can be added to only one Resool workspace.
  • DNS changes can take up to a few hours to be visible.

FAQ and troubleshooting

My domain has been "Checking automatically" for a long time. What can I do?

  • Compare each record at your DNS provider with the one in Resool: type, name and value must match exactly.
  • Check that you didn't enter the full domain in the name field if your provider adds it for you (you'd end up with forms.yourcompany.com.yourcompany.com).
  • Wait a few hours, then click Check now.

"This domain is already in use." What does it mean?

The domain is already added in another Resool workspace. Remove it there first, or use a different subdomain.

Can I use my main website address, like yourcompany.com?

No. A root domain can't point to Resool with a CNAME record. Use a subdomain such as forms.yourcompany.com.

Do I need to set up an SSL certificate?

No. Resool sets up HTTPS for your domain automatically when it becomes active.
