Google Sheets
Google Sheets is Google's online spreadsheet. Connecting Google Sheets to Resool lets your workflows write contact and conversation data into a spreadsheet automatically: add a row for every new lead, log answers collected by a chatbot, or keep one row per customer up to date by matching on their email or phone. Any value can come from a variable such as {{contact.name}}.
What you can do with Google Sheets
In Workflows
- Add a row: the Google Sheets row step adds the contact's data at the bottom of a tab.
- Update or add a row: match on one column (like email or phone). The matching row is updated, otherwise a new row is added.
In Settings
- Check a spreadsheet: paste a link to confirm the connected Google account can open it, and see its tabs and header rows before you build a workflow.
One Google connection for several apps
Google Sheets, Google Drive and Google Tasks share one Google connection with Gmail and Google Calendar. When you connect any of them, you sign in to Google once and all of them are connected with the same Google account. Disconnecting any of these cards disconnects them all.
Google Contacts is the exception: it has its own sign-in, can use a different Google account, and connecting or disconnecting it doesn't affect the others.
Before you begin
- You need a Google account with edit access to the spreadsheets you want to write to. Rows are written as this account, so share each spreadsheet with it as an editor.
- Row 1 of each tab should be the header row.
- In Resool, only workspace Owners and Admins can connect apps.
- If Gmail or Google Calendar is already connected, Google Sheets is already connected too. Skip to configuring it.
How to connect Google Sheets to Resool
- Go to
Settings › Apps. - Open the Productivity tab and click Connect on the Google Sheets card.

- The Connect Google Sheets dialog lists what Resool will be able to do with your Google account (see your email address, send email as you from Gmail, read and edit your Google Sheets, create and edit events in your Google Calendar) and notes that one Google connection covers several Google apps. Click Continue.

How to add or update rows in Workflows
- Open a workflow and click Add a step.
- Under Apps, choose Google Sheets row.
- In Google Sheets, paste the spreadsheet's link. The connected account needs edit access.
- Pick the Worksheet (tab). Click Refresh worksheets if you just added a tab.
- Under Column mapping, type what goes in each column. Each box shows the column's header as a hint; leave a box empty to leave that cell blank. Use Show all columns (A to Z) for columns beyond the first few.
- Under Row action, choose:
- Always add a new row: each run adds a row at the bottom.
- Update the row matching column X: the first row whose column X has the same value is updated (only the filled columns change). If there's no match, a new row is added.
- Save and publish the workflow.

How to disconnect Google Sheets
- Go to
Settings › Appsand click Disconnect on the Google Sheets card. - Confirm in the Disconnect Google? dialog.
This disconnects the whole Google connection: Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Google Tasks all stop working until you connect again. Google Contacts is not affected. Your spreadsheets are not changed.
Notes and limitations
- A step maps up to 26 columns (A to Z).
- Resool writes to the spreadsheets you link in workflow steps. It doesn't create spreadsheets or tabs.
- The step needs a Google connection. If Google isn't connected, the step shows a prompt to connect it.
FAQ and troubleshooting
The step says it can't open my spreadsheet. What do I do?
What you can do:
- Share the spreadsheet with the Google account shown in Google Sheets settings, as an Editor.
- Use Check a spreadsheet in Google Sheets settings to confirm access.
- Make sure you pasted a Google Sheets link (it contains
/spreadsheets/d/).
My new tab doesn't appear in the Worksheet list.
Click Refresh worksheets next to the picker.
Can I write more than the contact's name, email and phone?
Yes. Each column takes fixed text and any variable available in the workflow, for example the customer's reply to an Ask a question step ({{answer}}).
If I disconnect Google Sheets, does Gmail stop working?
Yes. Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Google Tasks share one Google connection, so disconnecting one disconnects all of them.
