Mailchimp
Mailchimp is an email marketing platform for newsletters and campaigns. Connecting Mailchimp to Resool shows which Mailchimp audiences a contact belongs to, with their subscription status and tags, right next to the conversation. Agents can add the contact to an audience in one click, and workflows can add or update subscribers with tags automatically, so people you talk to on WhatsApp, Instagram, live chat or email end up on your mailing list.
What you can do with Mailchimp
In the Inbox and on the contact page
- See the contact's audiences: each audience the contact's email address is in, with its status (Subscribed, Unsubscribed, Cleaned, Pending, Transactional or Archived), member rating and tags.
- Add to audience: add the contact to the default audience or any audience you pick. If they're already in it, the button becomes Update in audience.
- View in Mailchimp: open the member in Mailchimp in a new tab.
In Workflows
- Add / update Mailchimp subscriber: a workflow step that adds the contact to an audience, or updates them there, with tags.
Before you begin
- You need a Mailchimp account with at least one audience.
- In Resool, only workspace Owners and Admins can connect apps.
- Resool matches contacts by email address. Contacts without an email can't be added to Mailchimp.

- Default audience: where Add to audience in the inbox, and workflow steps that don't name an audience, put the contact. Each option shows the audience's contact count.
- Double opt-in: when on, new subscribers get Mailchimp's confirmation email and stay Pending until they confirm.
- Tags: added to the contact in Mailchimp every time they're added from the inbox. You can add up to 20 tags.
How to use Mailchimp in the Inbox
- Open a conversation and click the Mailchimp icon in the right-hand sidebar. Resool looks up the contact's email address in your Mailchimp account.
- You see each audience the contact is in, with status and tags. If they're in none, you see "isn't in any Mailchimp audience yet".

The same panel is on the contact's page under Connected apps. Adding contacts needs permission to manage contacts.
How to use Mailchimp in Workflows
- Open a workflow and add a step. Under Apps, choose Add / update Mailchimp subscriber.
- Set the step:
- Audience: Default audience or a specific audience.
- Status for new subscribers: Subscribed, Pending (send the opt-in email) or Transactional (no marketing).
- Tags: tags added to the subscriber. Variables such as
{{contact.name}}work here.
- Publish the workflow.

The contact is matched by email. Someone who already unsubscribed keeps their status: the step never re-subscribes them.
How to disconnect Mailchimp
- Go to
Settings › Appsand click Disconnect on the Mailchimp card. - Confirm in the Disconnect Mailchimp? dialog.
Resool stops accessing your Mailchimp account. The Mailchimp panel and workflow step stop working until you connect again. Subscribers already in Mailchimp stay there.
FAQ and troubleshooting
Why does the panel say "This contact has no email address"?
Mailchimp members are identified by email. Add an email address to the contact in Resool, then open the panel again.
Will Resool re-subscribe someone who unsubscribed?
No. When an existing member is added or updated, they keep their current status. Only new members get the status you chose.
Why is a new subscriber "Pending"?
Double opt-in is on in Mailchimp settings, or the workflow step uses Pending (send the opt-in email). The person becomes Subscribed after they click the link in Mailchimp's confirmation email.
The panel says the Mailchimp connection expired
What you can do:
- Go to
Settings › Apps, disconnect Mailchimp and connect it again. - Make sure the Mailchimp user who approves access can still sign in to the account.
Does Mailchimp sync contacts back into Resool?
No. The connection works from Resool to Mailchimp: you see a contact's Mailchimp data and add them to audiences. Mailchimp subscribers aren't imported into Resool.
