GetResponse

Resool Team · · 3 min read

GetResponse is an email marketing and automation platform. Connecting GetResponse to Resool shows which GetResponse lists a contact is on, with their tags, next to the conversation. Agents can add the contact to a list from the inbox, and workflows can add or update contacts with tags automatically, so leads from WhatsApp, Instagram, live chat and email reach your GetResponse campaigns.

What you can do with GetResponse

In the Inbox and on the contact page

  • See the contact's lists in GetResponse, with tags.
  • Add to list: add the contact to the default list or one you pick. If they're already on it, the button becomes Update in list.
  • View in GetResponse: open the contact in GetResponse in a new tab.

In Workflows

  • Add / update email subscriber: a workflow step that adds the contact to a GetResponse list, or updates them there, with tags.

Before you begin

  • You need a GetResponse account with at least one list.
  • In Resool, only workspace Owners and Admins can connect apps.
  • Resool matches contacts by email address. Contacts without an email can't be added.

How to connect GetResponse to Resool

  1. Go to Settings › Apps and open the Marketing tab.
  2. Click Connect on the GetResponse card.
  3. The Connect GetResponse dialog lists what Resool will be able to do after you approve: see your account's name and lists, see contacts by email with their lists and tags, and add or update contacts and their tags. Click Continue.

Review what Resool can access in GetResponse, then click Continue.
  1. Sign in to GetResponse in the window that opens and allow access.
  2. You're returned to Resool and see GetResponse connected. The card now shows Manage and Disconnect.

How to configure GetResponse

Click Manage on the GetResponse card to open GetResponse settings. Save with the bar at the bottom, or click Discard.

Choose the default list and the tags added from the inbox.
  • Default list: where Add to list in the inbox, and workflow steps that don't name a list, put the contact.
  • Tags: added to the contact in GetResponse every time they're added from the inbox. Tags that don't exist yet are created. You can add up to 20.

How to use GetResponse in the Inbox

  1. Open a conversation and click the GetResponse icon in the right-hand sidebar.
  2. You see each list the contact is on, with tags. If they aren't in GetResponse yet, the panel says so.
  3. Pick a list (or keep the default) and click Add to list. You see Saved in GetResponse when it's done.

The contact's GetResponse lists next to the conversation.

The same panel is on the contact's page under Connected apps. Adding contacts needs permission to manage contacts.

How to use GetResponse in Workflows

  1. Open a workflow and add a step. Under Apps, choose Add / update email subscriber.
  2. Set App to GetResponse, choose the List (Default list or a specific list) and add Tags if you want. Variables such as {{contact.name}} work in tags.
  3. Publish the workflow.

The contact is matched by email. Someone who unsubscribed keeps their status.

How to disconnect GetResponse

  1. Go to Settings › Apps and click Disconnect on the GetResponse card.
  2. Confirm in the Disconnect GetResponse? dialog.

Resool stops accessing your account. Contacts already in GetResponse stay there.

FAQ and troubleshooting

I added a contact but don't see them in GetResponse yet

GetResponse processes new contacts in the background, so a new contact can take a little while to appear. Open the panel again after a few minutes.

Why did my tag change?

GetResponse only accepts letters, digits and underscores in tag names, so other characters are replaced with underscores.

Why can't I click Add to list?

GetResponse always needs a list. Pick one in the panel, or set a Default list under Manage.

The panel says the connection expired

What you can do:

  • Disconnect GetResponse in Settings › Apps and connect it again.
  • Check that the GetResponse user who approved access can still sign in.
