Kit

Kit (formerly ConvertKit) is an email marketing platform for creators, built around subscribers, forms, sequences and tags. Connecting Kit to Resool shows a contact's Kit subscriber state and tags next to the conversation. Agents can add the contact to a Kit form or sequence, or just tag them, and workflows can do the same automatically, so people who message you can start receiving your emails.

What you can do with Kit

In the Inbox and on the contact page

  • See the subscriber: their state in Kit (for example active) and their tags.
  • Add to list: add the contact to a Kit form or sequence, or choose No list (tags only) to create or tag the subscriber without a form or sequence.
  • View in Kit: open the subscriber in Kit in a new tab.

In Workflows

  • Add / update email subscriber: a workflow step that adds the contact to a Kit form or sequence, or updates them, with tags.

Before you begin

  • You need a Kit account. To add subscribers to a form or sequence, create it in Kit first.
  • In Resool, only workspace Owners and Admins can connect apps.
  • Resool matches subscribers by email address. Contacts without an email can't be added.

How to connect Kit to Resool

  1. Go to Settings › Apps and open the Marketing tab.
  2. Click Connect on the Kit card.
  3. The Connect Kit dialog lists what Resool will be able to do after you approve: see your account's name, forms and sequences, see subscribers by email with their tags, and add subscribers to forms, sequences and tags. Click Continue.

Review what Resool can access in Kit, then click Continue.
  1. Sign in to Kit in the window that opens and allow access.
  2. You're returned to Resool and see Kit connected. The card now shows Manage and Disconnect.

How to configure Kit

Click Manage on the Kit card to open Kit settings. Save with the bar at the bottom, or click Discard.

Choose the default form or sequence and the tags added from the inbox.
  • Default list: the form or sequence that Add to list in the inbox, and workflow steps without one, use. Forms are listed first, then sequences. If you leave it on None, contacts are added as subscribers with their tags only.
  • Tags: added to the subscriber in Kit every time they're added from the inbox. Tags that don't exist yet are created. You can add up to 20.

How to use Kit in the Inbox

  1. Open a conversation and click the Kit icon in the right-hand sidebar.
  2. Under Profile you see the subscriber's state and tags. If they aren't in Kit yet, the panel says so.
  3. Pick a form or sequence, or No list (tags only), and click Add to list. You see Saved in Kit when it's done.

The same panel is on the contact's page under Connected apps. Adding contacts needs permission to manage contacts.

How to use Kit in Workflows

  1. Open a workflow and add a step. Under Apps, choose Add / update email subscriber.
  2. Set App to Kit.
  3. Choose the Form or sequence, or keep the default.
  4. Add Tags if you want. Variables such as {{contact.name}} work here.
  5. Publish the workflow.

A common setup: a workflow that tags subscribers with the product they asked about, so Kit's own automations send the right sequence.

How to disconnect Kit

  1. Go to Settings › Apps and click Disconnect on the Kit card.
  2. Confirm in the Disconnect Kit? dialog.

Resool stops accessing your account. Subscribers already in Kit stay there.

FAQ and troubleshooting

Do I have to pick a form or sequence?

No. Kit is the only marketing app in Resool that works without a list. Choose No list (tags only) to create or tag the subscriber.

Does adding a subscriber change their state?

No. An existing subscriber keeps their state. Someone who unsubscribed isn't re-subscribed.

I don't see my form in the picker

Only active forms are listed. Check the form's status in Kit, then open the picker again.

The panel says the connection expired

What you can do:

  • Disconnect Kit in Settings › Apps and connect it again.
  • Check that you can still sign in to the Kit account that approved access.
